The Spray Insulations, Inc. management team is comprised of Professional Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators and other construction industry professionals whose single commitment is providing fireproofing protection and superior service.

Thomas M. DaMario

Vice President

Thom began his career with Spray Insulations in 1985 as a Field Project Manager for the Northwestern Atrium (now CitiCorp Center) and Quaker Oats HQ projects. After spending almost a year in the field, he moved into the office as an Estimator/Project Manager handling many of the significant projects that highlighted the late 1980’s construction boom in the Chicago area. Thom subsequently was promoted to Operations Manager in 1987 and became  responsible for overseeing the efforts of a growing staff. Since being promoted to Vice President in 2001, Spray’s influence and reach has grown to include most of Illinois, southern Wisconsin, northern Indiana, and parts of Michigan and Iowa.

Thom earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame and is a Professional Engineer.  Prior to bringing his talents  to Spray Insulations, Thom worked for Underwriters Laboratories Inc. where his organizational skills and knowledge of fire resistance construction were first developed.  Thom is a commissioner on the Village of Skokie Appearance Commission and sits on the Building & Grounds Committee of St. Joan of Arc parish.

Malachy J. O’Connell

Senior Project Manager

After eight years of experience as a Structural Engineer, Mal joined Spray Insulations, Inc. in 1989 as an Estimator/Project Manager. He worked as the on-site project manager for SII on the USPS General Mail Facility in Chicago. He has since met the challenges of many projects and was elevated to the position of Senior Project Manager.

Mal graduated from Michigan Technical University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree in 1981. Mal is also a Registered Professional Engineer and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Pat Athans

Field Operations Manager

After attending the University of Oklahoma and playing football for the Sooners, pat started with Spray Insulations as a Laborer in 1981.  Pat built and pushed scaffolds, cleaned floors and hung tarps on some iconic Chicago high rises.

In 1986, Pat transferred to the Plasterers union and worked on more impressive projects including United Terminal One at O-Hare Airport, 190 S. LaSalle Street, 10 S LaSalle Street and the Northwestern Atrium (now CitiCorp).

Pat left Spray for awhile in 1994 but returned 2008 to become their General Superintendent and Field Operations Manager.  Pat is a father of 3 and grandfather of 2, enjoys visiting his children and grandchildren, getting outside when the sun is shining and college football.

Noah Morkunas

Project Manager

Noah has been a member of the KREZ Group team since 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Noah’s enjoys playing basketball and soccer in his free time. Noah resides in Chicago,
